Detroit has so many amazing rappers that it's difficult to create just one top 9 list so we decided to break it up by followers. This list is dedicated to our nine favorite Detroit rappers with less than twenty thousand followers.
9. Gucci Lando
The first artist we ever interviewed Gucci Lando has been a long time friend of the podcast. His growth has been consistent since the beginning and it's proven by his signing to the Ethika music label as well as the increased success of his projects.
8. FlashyWes
Detroit has always featured some of the most creative rappers especially when it comes to punchlines. It seems like we get a new punchline maestro with every new generation of Detroit rappers and FlashyWes is that for the current generation.
7. Taylor Bentley
Taylor Bentley is one of Detroit's best upcoming artists right now regardless of followers or gender. Her music has that bossy vibe that just embodies the spirit of Detroit women. Not falling into the trap of only rapping about sex (even though its still fire when she does) that most female artist tend to do she is versatile and has no trouble gaining male fans using her lyrics alone.
6. Big Jungle
Big Jungle may be one of the most fun artist to come up in Detroit since Sada Baby. His energy is infectious and it shows if you've ever been to any of his performances or watched any of his music videos. Jungle doesn't take himself too seriously and allows a space to have fun, which is something people will always appreciate in the music space. He has done nothing but grow in popularity since aligning with Icewear Vezzo's Iced Up Records and touring with Sada Baby in 2023.
5. Bankroll Reese
Bankroll Reese was already an artist to watch but 2023 solidified it. His project H.I.M released in September of last year and quickly became one of our favorite albums of the year. And then he dropped Watered Down in 2024 and people really began to see his versatility as an artist. Not only can he make authentic street music, he can also reflect on the streets and give game to one's coming up under him.
4. YBN Lil Bro
YBN Lil Bro should definitely have more than 20k followers but after multiple page deletions he's sitting right around 16k. His music reminds us of an older generation of Detroit rappers. The authenticity of his songs is what draws fans to him as many of Detroit's listeners can relate to his battles with DPD as well as the desire to make it out. With cosigns recently from Peezy and other notable Detroit rappers there is no doubt that his next project will be his biggest and he'll be way past this 20k mark by the end of 2024.
3. SBR Peezy
SBR Peezy might be the most underrated artist on this list. His style of music isn't the most common in Detroit but in the industry it's a big hit. Icewear Vezzo has proven himself to have a close eye on Detroits burgeoning underground rap scene and he's taken Peezy under his wing which will definitely be a good connection.
2. Kerch Dolla
Kerch Dolla has been on fire recently and it's honestly kind of surprising that he hasn't hit the 20k follower mark yet. His song Pressure featuring Sada & Skilla Baby was a hit last year as well as many more songs from his Keep Goin Dolla tape. In 2024 he hasn't slowed down yet. Big Squad artist always brings another level of energy and Kerch is no different in that aspect. With his backing and proven talent we're positive he'll continue this trajectory.
1. Malskii
Malskii has gotten the attention of the Detroit rap scene on the heels of an outstanding
OnTheRadar freestyle and hasn't missed with a release yet in 2024. All of her music videos have reached a few thousand views in a short period and if she keeps up this trajectory she'll become a staple in Detroit.
Detroit is one of the most talent filled cities in the world especially when it comes to rap, so we have no doubt that there are even more amazing artists who fit in this category but these are OUR FAVORITES.
